In the B.C. interior, near Nelson, there is a home that we were honored to have a part in. Working closely with our customers, together we selected two Maple sister trees that were salvaged in the Okanagan. From these two trees we created five pieces for this home.

Seating is important for all homes, especially for this couples home. With a house often full of family and friends we collaborated on three benches to add seating for their many gatherings. It is my belief and philosophy that we should work with what nature and life gives us. Doing our best to highlight natural grains as well as the characteristics developed in the wood over time. In the above piece we wanted to keep and highlight the fascinating growth pattern of this piece fit for this nook bench. Using ecopoxy to reinforce we were able to create a piece of art. Below you'll see, in one of the slabs we found damaged cause by machinery as the tree was being processed, rather than try to hide the damage we decided to highlight it as part of the trees life. We can only guess at what caused this damage and take the opportunity to bring to life. The amber ecopoxy highlights the beauty of the character it brings into the piece.

Another necessity for a home is bathroom space. This vanity top was designed in close contact with our customers and their contractor to fit this one of a kind bathroom.

A kitchen and it's centerpiece, built for a biologist. These two slabs connected kitty corner to each other bring a stunning dynamic to this kitchen. Riddled with bug damage as well as red, white and black spalting caused this piece to soak up the amber ecopoxy like it was thirsty. There is so much character in this piece I could write an essay about it. The pink lines are mineral staining likely from inner city fertilizing practices and the ribboning in the rest of the pieces ties it all together. I often say mother nature does the work, I just highlight, add structure and present the piece.
